This week I found God in Amazon. Not the jungle, the website…the king of book titles.

A small voice whispered from the inside out, “Go look at your stats for Hush in the Storm, (my newly released novel.)” I  questioned why, since the last time I’d looked a few weeks ago, right after it launched, it was in the 127,000th rank.  But, okay, God. I clicked on the website.  Here is what it said on 9/9

#3 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Religious & Inspirational Fiction > Christian > Mystery & Suspense

#4 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Religious & Inspirational > Mystery

#4 in Books > Christian Books & Bibles > Literature & Fiction > Mystery & Suspense

Tears filled my eyes, clouding my computer screen.  Of course it was short lived. Now I am #25, but out of over 500 in that category… I’m okay with that.  For three days I was a best selling author!

ID-100286871But here is the message – I am always #1 in God’s eyes. So are you, if you have claimed Him as your Lord and Savior.  Human popularity is fleeting, but God’s admiration is eternal.

He cares so much for this one author that His Spirit prompted me to look at  my book listing at just the right time. For me, it was a pat on the back to tell me I’d “done good” for Him.

Two years ago, I obediently began to write this suspense romance novel with an under plot of an ugly, but pertinent social issue – human trafficking. God led me down that path.  I won’t go into the ways He did that, but my Lord sent me so many signals, I finally had to laugh and say, “Okay. I’ll do it.”  Many Christian publishers pushed it back in my lap. But one took the chance. Not everyone likes it, but evidently enough do. It continues to get 4-5 star reviews.

The point is- I followed God into this endeavor and let Him use it for His glory. He has blessed me with my greatest  heart’s desire as a result.

Where is He calling you to use the talents He has bestowed upon you?  He will do the same for you as He has for me if you just step out there for Him. No matter what people say or do not say, God will always speak positive truths to you. Will you hear them? Or will your self-worth rely on the level of applause from other people?

Weakness to Strength

The number of slaves estimated in the world.
The number of slaves estimated in the world.

Human Rights Watch estimated 15 million children are bonded labor in India alone. In the U.S. there are American children being sold on the streets for sex, numbers as high as 15,000 with 100,000 at risk of becoming trafficked victims.

I started to work with inner city children to help prevent trafficking. I sat and listened to girls as young as 10 tell me about their 18-year-old boyfriends. Frustrated, I began fighting battles and tried to force change. But I found there were only two things that brought real change and opened the doors for me to help. Prayer and my own weakness, because that is when I depended solely on God.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Many times people feel helpless to bring change to the world, they don’t know what to do or how to help. As Christians we are never helpless to bring change, in our weakness we will be able to bring change when our dependency is on Christ. Prayer and faith will always bring change to a world in desperate need of hope and justice. Our commitment begins with weakness in ourselves, seeking Gods heart through prayer, listening and walking in obedience.

When you are listening or reading the Bible what do you think God has called you to do to end slavery?

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26

Prayer for Me: Father, thank you because in my weakness you are strong. Let my ears and heart be sensitive to you as I pray for the captives to be freed. And in faith I believe you are bringing freedom to people around the world.

Prayer For My Generation: Father, bring freedom to the children of my generation trapped in slavery. Let them never give up hope and know Christ’s freedom.

As WAR, Int’l staff drove into work today, sat at their desks, and logged on to their computers, an email sits waiting…one of our beloved safehouses in SE Asia has emailed us requesting not only for prayer, but for an army of prayer warriors, to surround them.

At some point last week, a pimp of one of the girls broke into the safehouse and tried to steal “his” girl back.  When she fought back and stayed, he retaliated and killed her brother…now the threat is more real than ever.  He says if he cannot have her then he will kill everyone at the safehouse.  Last night he was hiding at the safehouse again.
Police have been informed, charges have been filed, but in the world of WAR, Int’l and third world countries we know that this is not a strong enough deterrent.
Our safehouse is doing all they can to protect those within its walls.  Training has begun, and the boys are learning how to look for the pimp on the campus and bring him down on his face, tie his hands behind his back, then his feet, and call the police.  The threat is real, the circumstances scary.  Boys are now roll playing on how to get away, be fast, be strong.
The safehouse staff fears an upcoming wedding of one of the staff members, as the pimp as declared he will kill all of the safehouse staff and guests who attend.  With eyes filled with tears, the staff continues to move forward on their knees in prayer.
As a member of the WAR, Int’l family we ask you to take a moment today (it is night there), and pray for the safety, wisdom, and strength of this precious safehouse family.  The leaders are on the pimps hit list, and it has been told to us he is a mafia head man.  The rescued girl was a big part of his income.
God hears their cries, collects their tears, and it is our prayer He will continue to pour steel into their backbones, and bring this threat to an end in only a way God can.

Thank you for joining us in this might battle with your prayer!
The WAR Staff

Her eyes glimmered and her lips pressed into a straight line. “You have touched my heart. I have to buy something so something to help.” She swallowed, her eyes panned like a camera over the wares spread on the table. She carefully touched one, then another, as if the were made of the finest spun glass. Then her lips curled into a smile and her eyes danced. “This one. Each time I wear it, I will pray for them all.”

It happened over and over again throughout the day. People would listen to why I was there and who I represented (Christ above all else.) Some talked of missionaries they knew. Many just donated money. Lots more bought some of the items and talked about Christ in their lives. One couple’s two daughters had gone into the field in third world countries.

Others backed away and shook their heads as if the jewelry and purses in front of them represented something so horrid they couldn’t stand it.

imagesCAJ1YR52I am a representative for Women at Risk International (WAR). They are a Christian missionary society who saves women and children from slavery and trafficking in 13 countries. They teach them that, through Christ, they have worth and how to make jewelry and handbags. We sell those here in the USA to support their efforts. We sell their wares and items donated to their cause  at home parties and, for me, at conferences and bazaars as well.  They also have a store online. For more info – go to the Help A Woman tab on this blog site.

Today I found God in many faces of strangers. He linked us in a common purpose His love. He links me with all those women and children who have been abused and have discovered His healing power. He calls me to pray for those yet to be liked, and for their tormentors and those who choose to participate in the tormenting.

Will you link with us as well? Through Christ, the WAR can be won.
